I Believe in You

Freedom 1

Sometimes I wonder with all the self-esteem pushing, we're not creating a society of narcissists. I look around and definitely see people far too into themselves (whoa… was looking at a mirror). Whoops.

Yet I know I wouldn't be where I am if people at specific points in my life didn't believe in me… and TELL me that they believed in me. I could have told them to eff-off in the moment, thinking they were liars. But now the seed they sowed is germinating.

So many youth are running this race without being told that someone believes in them. Victims of trafficking, of abuse, of poverty and marginalization especially struggle with just finding a voice in the dark, in the pain, in the monotony.

"Someone? Anyone? Can anyone hear me?"

We do hear you.

And we love you.

I love Amanda Marshall's song "I Believe in You"… it speaks so much truth in ways I cannot. I didn't like the original music video in the sense that I thought it portrayed the "American Dream" a little too much (even though she's Canadian), but the message came through still. I found this video… just some stills set to the song.

Tell someone. Tell them. They may need 10,000 people saying they believe in them.

They might need one.

Be one. One of one or one of many.

Enjoy.

Somewhere there's a river, looking for a stream

Somewhere there's a dreamer, looking for a dream

Somewhere there's a drifter, trying to find its way

Somewhere someone's waiting to hear somebody say

I believe in you, and I can't even count the ways that

I believe in you, and I want to do is help you to believe in you

Somewhere someone's reaching trying to grab that ring

Somewhere there's a silent voice lerning how to sing

Some of us can't move ahead we're paralized with fear

And everybody's waiting, to hear somebody say

I believe in you, and I can't even count the ways that

I believe in you, and I want to do is help you to believe in you

I believe in you, and I can't even count the ways that

I believe in you, and all I want to do is help you to believe in you

I will hold you up

I will help you stand I will comfort you when you need a friend

I will be the voice that's calling I (hold till fade)

I believe in you and I can't even count the ways that

I believe in you and there are just so many ways that

I believe in you and all I want to do is help you to believe in you
